injection therapies utilising hyaluronic acid or high molecular weight,
platelet rich plasma or stem cells as first step taken towards assisting in
normal cartilage regeneration. In case this fails, surgical intervention
utilizing cartilage transfer concept or the step cell implantation will be
attempted for replacing worn-out or lost cartilage or progression of
osteoarthritis. In national trials, Dr. Bert is participating, few of which are
simply experimental but have shown great results in Asia and European
countries.
Bert especially cares for the weekend athletes and
for professional athletes as well. In active individuals, cartilage defects
have come to light especially among those who are between 25 and 55 years of
age from 60 to 85 percent of time at time of their knee arthroscopy. This Orthopedic
Surgeon says that most often, minor changes will be visualized that
consist of joint surface roughening when meniscus gets removed. This is ideally
the time for beginning injection treatment for preventing further deterioration
as well as promotes improvement in existing hyaline cartilage. Procedures like
cartilage transplant, un-weighing of bone, and/or treatment using injection
therapy will improve cartilage formation dramatically of joint surfaces and
this has been noticed in pre and post treatment. It is vital obtaining
appropriate consultation with surgeon who is experienced in different cartilage
restoration procedures prior to proceeding with any sort of aggressive surgical
procedures.
